DAY 01 : Pick up from Bagdogra / NJP Railway Station to Gangtok

As you begin with your majestic journey, you will first arrive at Bagdogra Airport or NJP Railway Station. To guide your excitement our vehicle will be waiting to receive you with a warm welcome at the airport or NJP which will further arrange your transfer to enchanting Gangtok, which is 1650 M above the Sea Level. Check-in to your hotel at Gangtok, freshen up & walk down to MG Marg, (the hub of Gangtok).

Gangtok :  Gangtok is the capital of the mountains of the North Indian state of Sikkim. Established as a Buddhist pilgrimage site in the 1840s, the city became capital of an independent monarchy after British rule ended but joined India in 1975. Today, it remains a Tibetan Buddhist center and a base for hikers organizing permits and transport for treks through Sikkim’s Himalayan mountain ranges.

In the evening you will visit the famous MG ROAD (The Mall) and go on a shopping spree. MG Road is the heart of Gangtok and it’s the most happening place.

DAY 02 : Gangtok to Baba Mandir & Tsomogo Lake

After breakfast, start for an excursion to Changu Lake (12,312 ft.) & Baba Mandir (13,200 ft.) which is 55 kms from Gangtok city (Starts 7:30 AM – 3:30 PM). Overnight stay at Gangtok. We would also like to offer our guests an optional tour to Nathula Pass (Alt 14000 Ft.) The China Border can also be arranged (Except Mon & Tue) for Indian Nationals only at a minimal additional cost & documents required 7 days prior to departure for Nathula pass. Please note Nathula Pass permits are issued on the day of travel only as per availability and once the permit is issued the amount will be non-refundable.

Tsomgo Lake – Also known as Changu Lake, is a glacial lake in the east Sikkim district, around 40 kilometers from the capital Gangtok. Located at an elevation of 3,753 m, the lake remains frozen during the winter season.

Baba Mandir – It is a distinguished sightseeing place of Sikkim. This “Mandir” or shrine is dedicated to “Baba” Harbhajan Singh, who was a soldier of the Indian Army. He died near the Nathula Pass. Two shrines have been built to show reverence to Baba Harbhajan Singh. The old one has been built at the site of the bunker, where Baba Harbhajan was posted during his tenure in the Indian Army. The new one has been built at close proximity from Changu Lake.

DAY 03 : Gangtok Local Sight Seeing

After the breakfast proceed for full day local sightseeing of Gangtok to explore: –

Tashi View Point- Located in Tashi which is 8 kms from Gangtok town. It offers a sweeping view of Kanchenjunga snow peaks on a clear day. On a clear day mountains are seen in splendour, especially at dawn when the sun’s rays hit the mountain peaks, it displays glory in shades of pink, orange, gold and finally white. You can experience this mesmerising view before 5am.

Banjhakri Falls- the Banjhakri Falls and Energy Park is a recreation center and tourist attraction near Gangtok. The park’s statuary and other displays document the Banjhakri, or traditional shamanic healer who worships spirits living in caves around the falls. Citizens were invited to suggest themes for the park. The park was consequently developed into an attraction that celebrated the shamanic traditions of the people of Sikkim.

Hanuman Tok – It is a Hindu temple complex which is located in the upper reaches of Gangtok. The temple is dedicated to lord Hanuman, and maintained by the Indian army. The legend about the place suggests that Lord Hanuman halted for a rest here while carrying the Sanjeevni to Lanka from the Himalayas. Tourists and pilgrims gather at the temple in large numbers to pray and wish for fulfilment. The idol of Lord Hanuman was erected here in 1950 when an officer named Appaji Pant had a divine dream at this location.

Ganesh Tok – Close to Tashi view point is Ganesh Tok, a temple of Lord Ganesha. It’s located at an altitude of 6,500 ft. and at a hill adjacent to that of the huge TV Tower. There is a circular balcony around the temple and a viewing lounge to soak in the panoramic view of vast green expanses, the Raj Bhavan complex, and the entire town of Gangtok in all its grandeur.

 

Enchey Monastery -This was established in 1909 above Gangtok. It belongs to the Nyingma order of Vajrayana Buddhism. The monastery was built around the then small hamlet of Gangtok became a religious center.  It is believed that on his way from Maenam Hill, he stopped here, built a small hermitage for personal use to meditate and gave structure to the monastery. Lord Buddha, Loketeswara and Guru Padmasambhava are deities worshipped here.

  

Gonjang Monastery – This was established in 1981. The founder is H.E. Tingkye Gonjang Rimpoche. He was recognized as an incarnation of Yolmo Terton Ngakchang Shakya Zangpo, a 15th century Nyingmapa Terton. The monastery follows the Jangter tradition of Nyingmapa school of Tibetan Buddhism.

 

Namgyal Institute of Tibetology – (Closed on Sunday & Govt. Holiday) in such cases alternative sightseeing will be shown the most prestigious research institute of its kind in the world, NIT is a treasure of a vast collection of rare Lepcha, Tibetan and Sanskrit manuscripts, statues and rare Thanks (colorful tapestries used in Buddhist liturgy). Apart from an attractive museum, it has over 200 Buddhist icons and other prized objects of art.

Flower Show Hall: – a popular permanent exhibition of Sikkim’s diverse flowering fauna, located near the White Hall. This is the venue of the acclaimed Sikkim Flower Show, normally held around March, when the orchids are in full bloom. People from around the country fly down to Sikkim around this time.

DAY 04 : Gangtok Local Sight Seeing

After breakfast check out of the hotel & get started on your journey to Darjeeling, which is 2042 m above the Sea Level. Enroute have a glimpse of Kurseong valley. Check-in to your hotel and stay at your leisure.

Evening time enjoy the Chowrasta or the Mall which is the heart of Darjeeling town. Located on top of Nehru Road, this is a nice flat land where tourists and locals come to lounge in the sun, take a seat on one of the many benches along the periphery, and watch the wonderful views of the mountain peaks and valleys all around. Mall is like the town center or the social center of Darjeeling. This is where some of the old and heritage stores are lined up, like Nathmulls Tea Store, Sunset LoungeOxford Book Store, Golden Tips, Bhutia Market etc.

DAY 05 : Darjeeling Local Sightseeing

Early morning visit Tiger Hill for the breathtaking view of sun rise at the mighty Kanchenjunga peak, a lifetime experience to see the “Golden Kanchenjunga” turning into “Red” and slowly into “Snow white”. Back to your hotel and have your delicious breakfast. We will now start for all local sightseeing places.

Early morning visits to: Batasia Loop and Ghoom Monastery

Batasia LoopIf you are taking a toy train ride from Darjeeling, you will pass by this magnificent loop. Otherwise, take a cab from Darjeeling town and visit the Batasia Loop. There is no better place to get a 360-degree view of Darjeeling’s landscape including the hill town and the snow covered peaks of the Eastern Himalayas with the majestic Kanchenjunga on one side. And all this from the middle of a lovely flowering garden around which the toy train track is laid.

Ghoom Monastery – This is the popular name of Yiga Choeling.The monastery belongs to the Gelukpa or the Yellow Hat sect and is known for its 15 feet- high statue of the Maitreya Buddha.

Post your visit come back to hotel, enjoy your breakfast and then start for a city tour –

Tea Plantation – Tea plantations are little more than just a piece of terrace farming. They are emerging as a new element of tourism, which is now called tea tourism. Darjeeling is called the Mecca of Tea. Darjeeling has more than 80 plantations scaling thousands of acres of lands along the slopes. You can find high grade first flush tea to exotic flavored teas here.

Padmaja Naidu Himalayan Zoological Park – Padmaja Naidu Himalayan Zoological Park is a 67.56-acre zoo in the town of Darjeeling. The zoo was opened in 1958, and an average elevation of 7,000 feet, is the largest high altitude zoo in India. (Closed on Thursday).

Tenzing Rock & Gombu Rock: – Also known as monkey rock are generally used by the trainees of HMI and pro climbers. Left side of the Tenzing Rock is really steep and can give you chills. Tenzing himself used to practice climbing on this rock. During a visit of erstwhile Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru, Tenzing demonstrated a climb on this rock without any safety equipment. You really need to have the skill of a lizard to do this. There is a less steep side of the rock where tourists and amateurs can climb the rock with the help of given gear and paying a nominal amount.

Himalayan Mountaineering Institute [HMI] (Closed on Thursday) – is a pilgrimage for all climbing enthusiasts of the world. Established in honor of Tenzing Norgay, it has a well-stocked museum with mountaineering displays and many expedition artifacts.

Japanese Temple and Peace Pagoda – Also known as Nipponzan Myohoji Buddhist Temple, the shrine was built in 1972 and is located 10 minutes away from the Darjeeling town centre, on the hill of Jalapahar. Showcasing classic Japanese style of architecture, this resplendent white building offers visitors a serene and quiet sanctum where they can meditate and seek inner peace.As one enters the temple, there is a picture of Fuji Guruji, the founder of Nipponzan Myohoji – a Buddhist order for world peace. He is said to have witnessed the tragedy of Hiroshima – Nagasaki. The title of Guruji was given to him by Mahatma Gandhi. In the temple, you will also come across images of Lord Buddha, alluding to its Buddhist ties.

Day 06: Departure to Bagdogra Airport / NJP Railway Station

Day 04 : Gangtok to Pelling ( Approx 4 hrs 30 min -123.9 km)

After breakfast check out of the hotel & start your journey to Pelling, which is 7050 ft above the Sea level.

Full day excursion trip to Pemayangtse Monastery, built in 17th. Century, it is one of the oldest and most important monasteries of the Nyingmapa order of Buddhism in Sikkim also visit  Khecheopalri Lake & Shingshore Suspension Bridge is worth seeing – length & gorge height is 680 ft. It is the second highest bridge in Asia. This area also has its. Also Visit Kanchendzonga waterfalls and, Rock garden.

Day 05 : Pelling to Ravangla and drop at Gangtok

Next proceed for Ravangla which is one of the most popular tourist destinations in South Sikkim. At an altitude of 7000 ft, located on a ridge between Maenam and Tendong Hill, Ravangla offers unmatched views of the Greater Himalayas. The beauty of its landscape and its location as a transit point to nearby destinations has made this a must-visit place.

Day 06 : Gangtok to Lachung ( North Sikkim) – Approx 6 hrs

After breakfast departure for Lachung (8610 ft./135km/6 hours), it has been described as the ‘most picturesque village of Sikkim’ by Joseph Dalton in his ‘Himalayan Journal’ (1855), situated in North Sikkim. Lachung is an exquisite valley town resplendent in its crown of snow-capped mountain, breathtaking waterfalls and sparkling streams. Arrival at Lachung and check in at hotel.

Day 07: Lachung to Yumthang then Zero Point and back to Gangtok (Approx 8 -9 hrs)

After early breakfast drive up for Yumthang valley (11,800 ft. /24 km / 2 hours) excursion tour. Yumthang, where the tree line ends and the rhododendron groves cover the landscape in a surreal shade. This is also called the valley of flowers becuase in spring wild alpine flowers carpet the land. Another speciality of Yumthang is its hot spring, which has healing medicinal properties.

Zero Point (Yumesamdong) drive up from Yumthung Valley. It is situated approx 22 km north from the valley. At an altitude of 15,400 ft the place remains covered with snow for most of the time. A one hour drive to Yuesamdong is an experience in itself. The view of the snow-capped mountains & undulating valleys will truly amaze you.

Then head back to Gangtok.

Day 08: Gangtok to Namchi & Chardham and drop at NJP Railway Station ( Approx 7-8 hrs)

After early breakfast start for Namchi & Chardham which is on the way to Siliguri.

NAMCHI: The mammoth statue of Guru Padmasambhava atop the Samdruptse hill claimed without dispute, that the 135 feet statue constructed at this site is an unforgettable experience.

 

CHARDHAM: This unique Pilgrim Centre has a main temple of 108 feet height ,which is based on the 87 feet high statue of Lord Shiva in the sitting posture at the Solophok Hill. Apart from Shiva statue, this Pilgrim Centre also has replicas of the twelve Jyotirlingas, to offer one platform for Shiva devotees. It is believed that in Chardham, lord Shiva incarnated as Kirateshwar in Indrakeel (Present Sikkim). Therefore, in this incarnation he is locally worshipped by the people of Sikkim as Lord Kirateshwar. A statue of 16 1/2 feet height of Lord Kirateshwar is also installed in this complex. In order to attain Moksha, the Hindu belief is to perform pilgrimage to all the existing four Dhams. Thereby, replicas of these four Dhams, namely Badrinath, Jaganath and Dwarka dedicated to Lord Vishnu and Rameshwar, dedicated to Lord Shiva is also constructed.

Tour Description

Day 01 : Arrive Guwahati - Kaziranga (193 kms – 4 to 5 hrs drive)

Meet & assistance at the Guwahati airport. Directly drive down to Kaziranga National Park (The World Heritage site, it is home to the world famous Indian One Horned Rhinoceros)

Upon reaching Kaziranga, you will be taken to the pre-booked hotel. Complete the check-in formalities and relax for a while.

In the evening, you will get an opportunity to attend Bihu, a local dance performed by a local group of dancers and musicians.

Day 02 : Kaziranga - Dirang (246 kms - 6 to 7hrs drive)

Wake up early morning for the Elephant safari into the sanctuary, spot the exotic species of wildlife and explore the park’s scenic beauty. It is home to a wide range of rare species like the one-horned Rhino, Wild boar, Wild water buffalo, Golden Langur, Pallas fish eagle, etc.

Return to the hotel for breakfast followed by check out, to embark on a drive to Dirang. 

Enjoy the road trip on the windy paths ascending into the Eastern Himalayas. If time permits, you can visit Tippi Orchidarium (Closed on Sunday and Public Holidays) which is home to 200 species of orchids.  On arrival, check in at the pre-booked hotel. The rest of the evening is at your leisure. 

Day 03 : In Dirang

After breakfast proceed for excursions of Dirang

Morning drive to Mandala Top:  Mandala Top is a series of 108 Buddhist stupas that have been built in a circle on top of a mountain in Arunachal Pradesh, perched at around 10,000 feet above sea level in the Himalayas. It is also known as 108 Mani and is a relatively new attraction of the area which the locals and the tourists are raving about. Explore the Dirang Dzong fort which was built by the Monpa tribe 300 years ago and see the old Khastong Gompa. One can also learn about the culture of the Monpa tribe which has been influenced by Tibetan Buddhism. There are multiple hot water springs around Dirang. One can visit the beautiful Sangti valley (1 hour) or Thembang village nearby. The Dirang monastery and the National Research Centre on Yak are also memorable visits.

Day 04 : Dirang - Tawang (134 kms 4 to 5 hrs drive)

Breakfast at the hotel following which you will start your journey to Tawang, a picturesque city in Arunachal Pradesh.

En route, visit the Sela Lake at Sela Pass at 4,170 m above sea level. Also, visit the heroic landmark of Jaswant Garh, where a young soldier held up the Chinese army for 3 days in the Indo- China war (1962). View of the majestic Jung Waterfalls on the way will give you peace & serenity.

 On arrival at Tawang, check in at the hotel and spend the rest of the evening to your leisure.

Day 05 : Tawang Sightseeing

Your exciting day will begin with an early breakfast at the hotel following which you will proceed for a sightseeing tour of Tawang. The main attractions for this day are the Bum La Pass and Sangetsar Lake, famously known as Madhuri Lake. The first stop shall be the Pankang Teng Tso Lake to enjoy its enchanting view. Next the Bum La Pass, perched at 4,633 m above sea level. It is a perfect place for the adventurous people seeking the wilderness. Then proceed to Sangetsar Lake, formed in the aftermath of the 1950 earthquake.

Afternoon proceed to Tawang Monastery, Buddha Statue and War Memorial where you can experience the marvelous light and sound show in the evening.

Day 06 : Tawang - Bomdila (175 kms - 5 to 6 hrs drive)

After breakfast, check out from the hotel at Tawang. Time to drive down to Bomdila. On arrival in Bomdila Check in to the hotel.

 

Later in the afternoon proceed for the visit of Bomdila Monastery which was constructed by Tsona Gontse Rinpoche the 12th reincarnate. This monastery is one of the most famous attractions of Bomdila and was inaugurated in 1965. It is an abode to the Buddhist monks and the lamas. It is believed that the monastery here in Bomdila is an exact replica of Tsona Gontse Monastery. Next you visit Bomdila Viewpoint and fulfill your shopping desires at the local market.

 

The rest of the day is at your leisure. You can explore the town on your own. It is a paradise for nature lovers, and a photographer’s delight as the snow-capped mountain ranges of the Himalayas offer spectacular views. 

Day 07 : Bomdila – Guwahati (270kms- 7 to 8 hrs drive)

Have an early breakfast and begin your journey to Guwahati.

 

En route explore Bhairav kund situated at the border of Bhutan and Arunachal Pradesh, near the Bhutanese town of Daifam. Enjoy the sangam of Jampani River (originating in Bhutan) and Bhairavi River which merge here to form Dhanshiri River. Indian nationals can enter Bhutan friendly nation to India, around walkable distance will be permitted by producing their photo identities like Driving License, AADHAR card.

This route is a bonus for Indian Nationals. (Guests needs to be here before 1pm)

 

Continue the drive to Guwahati

Day 08 : Kamakhya Temple darshan and transfer to airport

Around 05:15am proceed to Kamakhya Temple for the dawn darshan (Please note, in case guest wants to visit Kamakhya Temple, we suggest Roop Darshan, for going to Garba Griha, VIP ticket costs INR 501/- per person, counter opens at 06:00am for morning darshan and at 12:00pm for afternoon darshan. Devotees need to obtain the ticket by themselves by going before time and standing in the queue. Guests can also enter the temple without any VIP tickets, for that guest needs go in general Queue which will take several hours for the darshan.

 

In case guest finishes the darshan on time, they can head back to the hotel for breakfast (hotels offers breakfast max till 10am)

– Usually boat operators provide a 5-minute snorkelling experience complimentary, however the same cannot be guaranteed
– You reach Elephanta beach via a small 11 pax capacity sharing basis boat board at jetty
– You will be allotted a time for the boat a day before and you need to get ready accordingly
– Do not forget to carry a water bottle, snacks and changing clothes.

Tour Description

Day 01 : Bagdogra/ NJP - Phuntsholing

– On arrival at Bagdogra/ NJP guests will be received at the Airport by a representative who will drop them to the Bhutan-India border.
– A Bhutan representative will meet you on arrival at Phuntsholing and proceed with immigration.
– Later transfer to hotel.

Day 02 : Phuentsholing -Thimphu (146 kms / 4 hrs drive)

– Breakfast in the hotel.
– Later check out & proceed towards Thimphu. You can enjoy the landscapes of Thimphu.
– We will make stops along the way from time to time, so as not to miss the magnificent view of the Indian plains and the Toorsa River below. On the way, you will also see the first hydropower electric project ever built in Bhutan. Leaving Chukha, we will stop at the small town of Chimakothi. After passing through Chapcha, the road reaches its highest point of about 2,800m/9,185ft, then descends steeply and runs along the banks of the Wang Chu (river) to Chuzom (meaning confluence), where the Paro Chu runs into the Wang Chu. From here it is only about 30 min drive up the valley to Paro.
– On arrival in Thimphu, check in at the hotel.

Day 03 : Thimphu

– Breakfast in the hotel.
– Check out & drive at Dochula Pass (3,100 m), where on a sunny day, you can get stunning views of the Himalayan ranges. The Dochula Pass is probably the best-known mountain pass in Bhutan. Located at an altitude of 3150 meter above sea level, the Dochula Pass is about 30 kilometer away from the capital city Thimphu and the road to Punakha. On a clear day the pass offers visitors a spectacular view of the majestic eastern Himalayan Ranges.
– On the way visit Tamchog Lhakhang: Tachog lhakhang is a temple that is dedicated to the 13th century saint Thangthong Gyalpo, the iron bridge builder. This temple is located across the river about 15kms from the Paro towards Thimphu
– Ta Dzong (National Museum): The name Ta Dzong translates to ‘watch tower’ and it served the function of watch tower for the Paro Rinpung Dzong. Back in the day, similar look-out points were built for other dzongs (fortresses) to counter any approaching hostilities, for those were the days of frequent strife.
– Overnight in Paro.

Day 04 : Munnar - Thekkady (122 kms / 2.5 hrs drive)

– Breakfast in the hotel

– Drive to Thekkady 

– On arrival check in to the hotel. 

– Evening boat ride on Lake Periyar to spot wild animals coming to the lake for drinking water. 

– Overnight in Thekkady 

Day 05 : Paro

– Have early breakfast and drive up to the base of Taktsang Monastery (Tiger’s Nest). The most famous and sacred site among all the places in Bhutan. Guru Padmasambhava is said to have come riding on a flying tigress to this place and meditated in a cave for 3 month. The walk is about 2 hours till the top through wide pathways which were built during the restoration works. One hour into the climb there is a tea point from where you get a very good view of the monastery, they also serve lunch here. From there it’s about another 45 minutes climb to the 2nd view point and the highest point in the hike. Then Return.

Day 06 : Paro - Phuentsholing

– Breakfast in the hotel.
– Bhutan team will escort you to the border to bid you all farewell.
– Later check in to a hotel in Phuentsholing
– Overnight in Phuntsholing

Day 07 : Drop To Bagdogra / NJP Railway Station

– After breakfast, departure to Bagdogra airport/ NJP ( approx. 4hrs) for your flight/train back home.
